Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of HIMSS

Welcome to the Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of HIMSS.

Message from the Chapter President:

As we plan to ring in the New Year, I wanted to share with you some exciting news about our chapter for 2018.

Our chapter has joined forces with the Indiana HIMSS Chapter to produce a joint luncheon during the HIMSS18 conference in Las Vegas this March.

Last June, during our annual board retreat, our team decided to give back to those who have served or are actively serving our country in the armed forces. We are pleased to announce that we have sponsored someone in active military or veteran to attend the HIMSS18 conference. As the North America office finalizes those who submitted an abstract for sponsorship, we plan to embrace the individual during our time in Las Vegas and give our thanks for their service and our freedom. We are joined with four other North America chapters to provide this sponsorship.

On April 12-13, 2018 we will produce our annual Spring Conference at Belterra Casino and Resort. Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open on our website. We have a Call for Abstracts out to the membership now seeking submissions for presentations. I encourage everyone that has a story or case study from their organization to consider submitting an abstract for the annual Spring Conference.

I look forward to 2018 and all the exciting educational and networking opportunities we will be producing as we continue our mission in the coming year.

CALL FOR PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS – Deadline: January 19, 2018

Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society invites you to share your knowledge by presenting at their 2018 conference.

Presentations that highlight activities within and across KY and the boundary states are welcome. Presentations should focus on sharing relevant content such as providing expertise on a topic or detailing a particular case study and demonstrating lessons learned as opposed to commercial promotion. Multiple submissions are welcome.

Suggested topic areas for consideration:

  • Clinical Informatics & Clinical Engagement

  • Data Analytics/Clinical & Business Intelligence

  • Process Improvement/Workflow/Change Management

  • Security

  • Interoperability/Adaptability

  • Other

Abstracts will be evaluated against each of these criteria:

  • Quality of the abstract (merit, style, relevance)

  • Educational potential – the presentation should be focused on providing relevant content such as built around a case study or detailing an improvement process

  • Presentations by vendor companies should be accompanied by a provider organization

  • Absence of commercial promotion (products and services) – these abstracts will not be considered

Presenters will be notified of abstract selections in early February.

If the presentation is accepted, the presenter(s) will receive a complimentary full conference registration. Limit two (2) presenters per presentation.
Note: Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of HIMSS does not reimburse for hotel, travel, meals or other presentation-related expenses.

We have heard that several people had difficulty submitting an abstract for consideration and want to make sure everyone who is interested has an opportunity to submit.

Therefore please send a Word Document that contains the following information to on or before Friday, January 19.

Fields to include in the Word Document:

  • Presenter full name

  • Job Title

  • Company

  • Email

  • Work Phone

  • Address

  • Presenter Bio

  • Co-Presenter(s) name and information as detailed above

  • Topic for abstract (see list above)

  • Presentation Summary (limit 200 - 300 words)

  • Please provide up to three key objectives of your presentation after the summary. In addition to providing more information about your topic, this will help obtain conference continuing education credits. Objectives should be written as a learner outcome with a measurable verb such as “Attendees will be able to identify four critical components of a successful ACO.”
