New President Elect
Message from the Chapter President:
It is such an honor to be your Chapter President this coming year. While I have served in several capacities over the last seventeen years, this term marks my third as Chapter President. Over the years, I have seen our chapter grow from over 100 members to nearly 1,000 members across the Commonwealth of Kentucky today.
We have an outstanding group of board members serving our chapter this year. Recently, we completed a day long planning retreat at Belterra Casino and Resort. The team discussed the vision of the chapter in the coming years but more importantly what educational opportunities we plan to produce to our membership.
The first major event we are producing is the September Clinical Informatics Symposium in Lexington. UK Healthcare has graciously offered their Pavilion space to host the event. Our team has assembled a compelling list of speakers and topics for this event. We hope that you will be able to join us on September 13th in Lexington. Click here for more information about the symposium and registration. While we have many social and other educational events on the docket, our next big announcement is the 2018 Spring Conference. It has been a number of years since we produced this event and we are bringing it back to our membership. Mark your calendars for April 12th and 13th 2018! We have chosen Belterra Casino and Resort as the venue for this regional event.
Our industry has been met with many challenges in recent years. During the planning retreat our board members discussed ways in which we can give back to those in our industry and to the communities our industry serves across the Commonwealth. The board unanimously voted to sponsor a Veteran or actively military service member from Kentucky to attend the HIMSS18 conference March 2018. I will be working with the HIMSS North America office in the coming months to help us select someone that has given back to our country and community by sponsoring their attendance to the annual HIMSS conference. The board was also brainstorming on other ways in which our chapter can give back to the industry and communities we serve. I welcome your thoughts and ideas, so please email me we collectively try to pay it forward.
I look forward to seeing each of you at upcoming Bluegrass Kentucky HIMSS events. Our board is working hard to serve you, the member, with value and education that furthers your professional development.
