Message from the Chapter President

As we start the 2019-20 board year, I look at the past year in amazement at our successes and hope to continue to build on the momentum that has already been generated. With the new board year comes a change in the board membership with new faces and energy being brought into the mix. This year's focus is about trying to engage more of our membership in our activities and education sessions provided by Kentucky Bluegrass HIMSS as well as get the message out to those not actively involved about everything our chapter has to offer.

An outcome of a planning session held in June, the Board of Directors has put together a strong framework of events and education for the upcoming year. Starting with a social event in Louisville in August and with our Fall Symposium to be held on September 20th, the board has created a dynamic lineup for the year made up of events varying in length, topic, and format. A chapter membership favorite, KY HIMSS will again partner with the Indiana HIMSS chapter to co-host our Spring Conference at Belterra in Florence, IN April 15-16, 2020. Please stay tuned to our website and social media channels as additional events get added throughout the year. We hope everyone, looking across this wide spectrum of events, will be able to find something of interest to them and a way to participate.

Many people have come up over the last several months asking how they can get involved this year. A key focus of this year’s board is to be able to communicate out both short-term and long-term volunteering opportunities where we can use help from our membership. There are small tasks in time commitment, such as helping at an event registration desk for an hour or assisting with editing material content. There are also larger tasks - being a reviewer of abstract submissions for our conferences to creating slide decks to work with our organizational affiliates. All these activities are critical to the success of our chapter and getting help where people are most comfortable is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering your time and talents, please reach out to any board member and we will be happy to get you plugged in accordingly.

We must also acknowledge and thank our sponsors. We know without their support the Chapter cannot offer our programs and support to the Kentucky healthcare community. To you, we say “THANK YOU!”

In closing, the Board of Directors are here to serve our members. It is our goal to ensure every member understands and is getting the value from KY HIMSS. If there is something we can do to enhance your experience with the chapter, please let us know. I look forward to seeing all of you at our events this year and getting more of you involved with the great chapter we have here in Kentucky!

Thank you for your support and your membership,

Stephanie Hojan
